I bought a really lovely down comforter on sale at Bloomingdales this weekend (down to $79 from $360!!!) and also splurged on all new bed linens. You guys, my bed feels like a hotel bed right now and it’s basically the best thing to happen to me in months. I may never leave this bed again (oh wait, I have a 6am poise class. Well. Shit.)

New York Post Misidentifies Local High School Track Runner As Boston Bombing Suspect | Mediaite:

The New York Post has again distinguished itself in its coverage of the Boston Marathon investigation, this time misidentifying the two suspects authorities kinda-sorta maybe have in mind. Over a photo from the marathon, the Post screams âBAG MEN: Feds seek these two pictured at Boston Marathon.â In the photo, two men, one with a white cap and a backpack, are shown conversing while dark-skinned.

Whatever happened to responsible journalism? My hometown of Revere, MA — which is one of only two communities included alongside Boston in Suffolk County, which I feel gives us the right to call ourselves native Bostonians, because if I can get sent to goddamn ROXBURY for jury duty, I can damn well claim Boston native status — keeps getting swept into a negative light.

First came the apartment search on Monday evening - all because a Saudi kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time. One victim out of 170+ was flagged as a suspect because of the color of his skin - and shockingly few people seem to have a problem with that.

Now this high school student has had his name and image dragged through the mud because of irresponsible journalism. What made this guy suspicious? If you’ve got brown skin, should you avoid crowds altogether? Maybe leave your backpack at home before attending your next crowded event? If this student were white, would he have received the same treatment in the media?

Look, what happened on Monday is horrifying. I hate that these bombs tore apart my city on my favorite day of the year. But more than that, I hate the way some people are responding.

Fear, hysteria, finger-pointing: this isn’t the solution. Think before you spread hate and suspicion, and remember that the color of someone’s skin doesn’t determine their character.
